MetaTrader 5 Download with Alice Blue

Get MT5 access through Alice Blue, a SEBI-registered broker. Trade NSE, BSE and MCX from your phone with flat Rs.20 fees. Open your account.

Most retail investors end a year of CFD trading with a loss.

MetaTrader 5 Download with Alice Blue

Alice Blue does not hand you a standalone MetaTrader 5 installer. What it does is give you ANT, its own mobile app, plus web and desktop terminals that cover the same job for Indian markets. The MT5 route with this broker runs through exchange-traded products on NSE, BSE and MCX, not through an offshore CFD terminal.

The industry standard for a global MT5 broker is a downloadable Windows installer, an app-store mobile build, and a web terminal that all sync to one login. Alice Blue competes on a different axis: pricing. Most full-service brokers in India still charge a percentage of turnover, while Alice Blue works on a flat per-order model.

What You Are Actually Downloading

A search for MT5 in India usually means one of three things that are not the same product.

  • The real MetaTrader 5 terminal, offered by brokers that carry an offshore or international licence.
  • A domestic trading app from a SEBI-registered broker that executes on NSE, BSE or MCX.
  • A clone app that mimics MT5 branding and collects your KYC documents.

The third one is the problem. The RBI keeps an Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms, and as of the 19 November 2025 update that list held 95 entities. The seven added in that update were Starnet FX, CapPlace, Mirrox, Fusion Markets, Trive, NXG Markets and Nord FX. The RBI states plainly that the list is not exhaustive, so absence from it proves nothing.

WARNING
A fake MT5 app asks for your PAN, Aadhaar and bank details before it ever shows you a chart. Verify the entity through SEBI and RBI before you type a single document number.
Alice Blue is on the other side of that line. It is a SEBI-regulated domestic discount broker, and its app carries the brand name ANT, not MetaTrader.

Alice Blue's Real Platform Lineup

The name to remember is ANT, short for Analysis and Trade. That is the app Alice Blue actually ships, alongside a web terminal and a desktop build. There is also ANT MOBI for lighter phones.

PlatformWhat it runs onBest for
ANT mobile appAndroid and iOSOrder placement on the move
ANT MOBILow-spec phonesBasic charts and orders
Web terminalAny browserDesktop-style charts without install
Desktop buildWindows and macOSMulti-chart layouts

None of these is MetaTrader 5. That is not a flaw in the product, it is a difference in category. The MT5 platform exists mainly to serve forex and CFD brokers, and the RBI/FEMA framework restricts Indian residents to INR-based currency pairs on recognised exchanges. An MT5 terminal pointed at offshore spot forex is not a legal route for a resident, so the practical value of an MT5 download here is limited to what the domestic exchanges permit.

What Alice Blue gives you instead is coverage of Equity, F&O, currency, commodity, mutual funds and IPO in one login. Instruments on a real MT5 build usually stop at forex, CFDs and metals.

How the ANT App Feels Day to Day

Opening the app lands you on a watchlist, not a marketing screen. Order entry is a two-tap flow from the watchlist: pick the scrip, choose quantity, choose product type, confirm. The MIS product, which is intraday with margin and exposure, sits in the same dropdown as delivery and MTF, so you are not hunting through a submenu when the market is moving against you.

SEBI peak-margin rules apply to all intraday positions, and the app reflects that. You feel it when you try to size a position larger than your margin allows. The block happens at order entry rather than at square-off.

Notifications arrive for order fills and rejections. Chart settings are where the complaints cluster, based on app-review patterns, and no major SEBI action against the broker was verified at review. An app with a rough charting screen is a UX issue, not a safety issue.

FYI
The account is free to open and free for the first year. AMC has been zero since 12 September 2024, so there is no annual fee sitting behind the download.

Costs, Benchmarked Against the Market

SegmentAlice Blue chargeTypical full-service broker
DeliveryRs.20/order or 2.5%, lower~0.3% of turnover
IntradayRs.20/order or 0.05%, lower~0.05% of turnover
Account openingFreeOften Rs.200-500
First-year feesFreeVaries
AMCZero since 12 Sep 2024Rs.200-500/year

The flat Rs.20 model only wins if your order sizes are meaningful. On a Rs.10,000 delivery order, 0.3% at a full-service broker is Rs.30, and Alice Blue charges Rs.20. On a Rs.5,000 order, the percentages flip and the percentage-based broker can be cheaper on delivery.

Zero AMC is the cleaner win. That line item is pure friction on most Indian accounts, and removing it outright is not something most brokers do.

Base currency is INR and settlement is in INR on SEBI-recognised exchanges, so there is no domestic FX conversion sitting inside your trade.

Money In, Money Out

There is no fixed minimum to fund the account.

  • UPI through PhonePe or Google Pay, near-instant, with an NPCI limit of roughly Rs 1 lakh per transaction per day.
  • IMPS, typically clearing in minutes.
  • NEFT or RTGS for larger amounts.
  • NetBanking through HDFC, SBI and other major banks.

KYC to open a legal, exchange-linked account needs a PAN card, which is mandatory, plus Aadhaar, an address proof such as Aadhaar, a utility bill or a bank statement typically dated within about three months, and a cancelled cheque for bank proof. Approval usually lands in 24 to 48 hours.

On the withdrawal side, expectations matter. T+1 settlement on equity delivery plus broker processing time means money in your bank in a day or two for settled positions, not the instant pullback that a wallet-style app trains you to expect.

If you are weighing this account against a more strictly regulated international broker, the criteria that matter are the same ones we apply anywhere: a tier-one licence such as FCA, CySEC or ASIC, segregated client funds, transparent fees with no hidden markup, a long track record, and support that answers. Ask any broker you shortlist for those five things in writing before you fund.

Things Worth Knowing Upfront

RBI and FEMA permit residents to trade only INR-based currency pairs, meaning USD/INR, EUR/INR, GBP/INR and JPY/INR, alongside permitted cross-currency derivatives on NSE, BSE or MSE. Spot forex and CFD trading with offshore brokers is not available to residents, and remitting funds abroad for margin forex trading is not a permitted LRS purpose. The LRS cap itself is USD 250,000 per resident per financial year, tracked at PAN level, with 20% TCS on the portion above Rs 10 lakh per year, a threshold raised from Rs 7 lakh effective 1 April 2025.

RISK ALERT
Offshore apps advertising UPI deposits for spot forex are operating outside the legal framework. A smooth payment flow is not evidence of a valid licence.

Tax treatment is the other piece. Exchange-traded currency futures and options profits generally count as non-speculative business income, taxed at your slab rate. Intraday equity positions are speculative business income, with losses set off only against other speculative income and carried forward for four years, versus eight years for non-speculative losses. A 20% TCS applies on LRS remittances over Rs 10 lakh and functions as advance-tax credit.

Islamic or swap-free accounts are not offered by Alice Blue.

What Selection Looks Like From Here

Alice Blue competes on flat pricing, zero AMC, and a real SEBI licence with a verifiable number: stock broker INZ000156038, member of NSE, BSE and MCX through MSE, and CDSL DP ID 12085300. Founded in 2006 by Sidhavelayutham Mohanamoorthy, it is a Bengaluru-based bootstrapped discount broker, which means it built its client base on price rather than on a parent bank's branch network.

Where it sits below the international standard is breadth of platform choice. A trader who wants a downloadable MetaTrader 5 terminal with custom expert advisors will not find that here. A trader who wants cheap, fast, exchange-traded execution on Indian instruments from a phone will.

QUICK TIP
If MetaTrader 5 itself is a hard requirement rather than a nice-to-have, that requirement points you toward brokers with an FCA, CySEC or ASIC licence and MT5 available. Verify the entity on the register before anything else.

Reasonable ifyou trade Indian equities, F&O, currency or commodity on the exchanges, want flat Rs.20 pricing, care about zero AMC, and do most of your work from a phone. The licence is verifiable, the fee structure is public, and opening the account costs nothing in year one.

Unreasonable ifyour strategy depends on the MT5 ecosystem itself: expert advisors, custom indicators, or multi-asset CFD exposure. A trader who needs that should shortlist brokers with tier-one regulation and a genuine MT5 build, and confirm the licence status on the regulator's own register rather than on the broker's homepage.

Six Months From Now

Platform lineups do not move fast, but fees and rules do. The decision that holds up over the next two quarters is the one you make on evidence rather than on a download prompt.

Check three things before you commit. First, the licence number against the SEBI register, on the regulator's site and not the broker's. Second, your own average order size, run through the flat-fee-versus-percentage arithmetic so you know which model is cheaper for you specifically. Third, whether the platform you are downloading is the one you actually need, or the one that came up first in a search.

Alice Blue's fundamentals are stable: a 2006 founding, an unbroken SEBI registration, and a fee model that has only moved in clients' favour with the AMC removal. What will change is the tax and remittance framework around offshore trading, and the RBI Alert List, which updates without much notice. If your plans touch any offshore product, revisit those two sources quarterly rather than annually.

Questions

Why can't I download MT5 for forex trading in India?

Because RBI and FEMA permit residents to trade only INR-based currency pairs such as USD/INR and EUR/INR on SEBI-recognised exchanges. Spot forex and CFDs through offshore brokers are not a legal route for residents, and LRS cannot fund a leveraged forex account.

How do I know the MT5 app I found is genuine?

Verify the entity behind it. Check the broker on the SEBI register and cross-check against the RBI Alert List, which held 95 unauthorised platforms as of the 19 November 2025 update. If the app asks for PAN and Aadhaar before showing a chart, stop.

Is MetaTrader 5 available through Alice Blue?

No. Alice Blue's platforms are ANT, ANT MOBI, web and desktop. There is no MetaTrader 5 build. If MT5 is a requirement, look at brokers holding an FCA, CySEC or ASIC licence that ship it.
